Introduction
Hi everyone, 200 League Staff is pleased to announce that 200L is returning for its sixth season! We were very happy with the number of teams who participated in our previous tournament, 200L Overdrive II. With the 200cc scene growing in terms of 6v6 scrimmages and 200 Lounge lately, we felt that hosting another tournament sooner rather than later would help sustain this growth!
Information
Unlike Overdrive, this will be a league format, however, we will be moving on from WCL format, which is what we've been using for the past five seasons; we will be adopting the eight-team conference format that MKU has used (and continues to use).
As a reminder, in this format, each division consists of eight teams. Also within those divisions is two conferences, where all eight teams are equally separated based on skill. After five weeks of the regular season, where teams play both conference and interconference matches, four teams will advance to the playoffs, one of the main attractions of this format. Playoffs last for two weeks, with the winner being crowned the champion of the division. As of right now, the playoffs will have the 1 seed play the 4 seed in what is known as the wildcard, and likewise, the 2 seed against the 3 seed, but this may be subject to change.
Match Times and Reschedules
As is the case with all 200L events, matches will take place on Saturdays. Given that this season will be played under conference format, teams will need to play two matches per week, meaning that match times will be 3:00 PM EDT / 21:00 CET and 4:00 PM EDT / 22:00 CET.
In addition, one disclaimer we'd like to make is that chances are very high 200L will conflict with other MKCentral events. While this is obviously not ideal, there is not much that can be done about it aside from reschedules, which will be permitted under this format. That being said, other MKCentral tournaments will not be a justified reason to ask for a reschedule, so please keep that in mind. Given that, if you do not believe your team will be reliable enough to make a commitment to this tournament given these details, we do not recommend signing up.
Important Dates
Teams will have until November 12th @ 23:59:59 UTC to confirm for 200L Season 6, and rosters will be locked at this time as well. Just remember that the manager/leaders who appear on the registry are automatically assumed to be the team representatives, so make sure everything (especially Discord tags) are correct. It should go without saying, but make sure that team representatives are also in our Discord server, linked here and above.
Matches of the regular season (first five weeks, all teams) will run from November 20th to December 18th. Given the holidays taking place around this time, playoff matches (final two weeks, four teams) will take place following a two-week break we will be having for Christmas and New Years. Please take note of this break (and spend time with your loved ones)!
