Hello everyone, here I'll give some insight on how MKC will be handling Offline Tournaments. An offline tournament is essentially any kind of event that isn't simply played over WiFi - these are events you travel to, and meet up with other players. While MKC is an online based community, we recognize that Mario Kart as a series was made to be a game you play with friends together in the same place, and would like to encourage people to host events like this. This section will be used to advertise offline events that may be happening, with the goal of bringing together people to play the game in person. None of the events posted in this section will be hosted by MKC, but rather, by the users. As a result, we are allowing anyone to make a thread here to advertise an offline event, but in an attempt to assure quality in each event, will be monitoring the section heavily in which thread gets posted. We would like to emphasize that if you plan to make a thread here that your tournament should be nearing the final stages of planning, and should be seen more as a final advertisement. Like with the Site Tournaments section, we want all events posted here to be guaranteed things, especially if people may be potentially travelling to get to your event.

Thread Requirements to be Accepted

  • We expect users posting to have a relatively clean image in the community without any former (especially recent) drama.
  • We expect users posting to be at least 18 years of age.
  • We expect users posting to take responsibility for what happens at their event and how it is ran.
    • Additionally, we expect our users to realize that MKC is simply a means of advertisement for their event.
  • Posts must include a time, date, and location (stated clearly; which country, city, state, address, venue name).
    • The location must be at a legitimate (public) venue.
  • Posts must be professional in appearance and complete.

Additional Thread Suggestions

  • TO (Tournament Organizer) Contact Info
    • Additional References (Discord Server, Facebook Page, etc.)
  • Events Breakdown (Modes, Side Events, Doubles)
    • Events Schedule
    • Rules / Formats
  • Signup Pages (Google Form, smash.gg, etc.)
    • Clear indication of pre-reg vs at the door, or a mix of both.
  • Entry Fees (if applicable)
    • Preferably Venue Fees / Event Entry Fees Separate
    • Discounts for Setups?
    • Payout Methods / Prizes
  • Miscellaneous Details
    • Wireless vs LAN?
    • Equipment Needed
    • TO Application / Helper Forms
    • Stream Link
    • 1 Time Event? Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Monthly?
Though we expect these tournaments to be more rare than our online ones, it would be cool to see even a few of them be made and ran successfully with decent turnouts. Site Tournaments will not be taking off for these events; though perhaps it could have an exception on occasion. Best of luck to any organizers!
