Note: Newly-added rules (or altered rules) will be highlighted.

▶ How to sign up on the MKCentral Registry

a. Players must have an account on mariokartcentral.com and be registered on the site registry.
- If a player is found to be using an alternate account to deceive the tournament organizers, they will be punished by Mario Kart Central staff and immediately disqualified from the tournament.

b. Players banned from Mario Kart Central are prohibited from registering.

c. Registration of player names that are offensive to public order and morals is prohibited.

d. Players may only play in MKC competitions with the Switch FC they signed up with on MKCentral.
- Please contact #player-support in the MKCentral - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe server or #support in the MKCentral SUMMIT server if there are any changes to the Switch FC.
e. If you wish to cancel your registration, please withdraw your registration on the event signup page.

f. Players/Squads with an average peak mmr of Diamond 2 or higher (15000 mmr) in the previous season will have a chance to start in Round 3 instead of Round 1.

a. All participants are assumed to understand and agree to the rules.

b. Free choice of tracks, vehicles, characters, and controllers.

c. All rounds will use the following settings: 150cc Race, No Teams, Normal Items, Hard COM, All Vehicles.

d. The first 2 rounds will consist of 8 races. Starting from the 3rd round, each round will be 12 races.

a. The host must send friend requests to all players before the round’s starting time.
- Hosts should also type a message in their respective #room-channel in the SUMMIT Server once they have added all players in their room.

b. Players must add the host by the round’s posted starting time.

c. In each round, players have 10 minutes to join the room after the start time. (For example, 2:10 EDT if the start time is 2:00)
- If 12 players are not present after 10 minutes of opening, the host has the right to force the game to start.

d. The host must open the room at the time posted by the organizers.

e. Players who do not make it to the room on time will receive CPU points for the races they missed. If a player misses every race, they will receive a score of 0 for that round.

f. If a host is found to be breaking hosting rules, they will be banned from hosting future tournaments.

g. Repicking a track will result in a 15 point penalty, and track picks are reset each round.

h. If a player not intended to be in a room joins, any races played with that player will not count and the room must be restarted.

i. In team matches, players must decide on a tag to use in their name with their teammates.
Tags in team tournaments must either all be placed at the beginning of players' names or all at the end of players' names. For example, the following is allowed:
・A★Cynda, A★DUGO
・Cynda★A, DUGO★A
and the following is not allowed:
・A★Cynda, DUGO★A
・tmAn, mArio
Failing to use your registered name or violating the tag rules after being warned will result in a 15 point penalty after the 3rd race of the next round.

a. In the event that a player disconnects before the first race starts, the room must be restarted. This rule only applies once, if a player disconnects before the first race a second time the room should continue without closing. A player should provide video proof (switch clip, stream, etc.) of their disconnection if requested.
- The criteria for the start of the race is before the countdown begins.

b. If 3 or more players from at least 2 different teams disconnect, the race will not count and the room must be reopened.
- Players should provide video proof (switch clip, stream, etc.) of their disconnection if requested.

c. If a race does not finish due to lag, the race will not be counted and the room will be reopened.

d. If this happens to occur during an event, please attempt to capture video proof of the individual who may be causing the lag in the room. If the proof is convincing, and if the majority of the room agrees on who is causing the lag, staff have the right to punish the individual for a certain amount of time, or warn them to fix their connection before playing again.

e. If at least three players experience delayed items in at least two different item sets during a race with video proof if requested, the race does not count.

a. Hosts are responsible for taking screenshots of the room’s final results and submitting the results through Discord.

b. Please be sure to post results using the tournament bot explained here, "How to submit results with the tournament bot".

c. A player/team's total score will be the total points they scored in each race.

d. Players who disconnect will receive the score that their CPU received for the races they missed.
- If more than one player disconnects and there are multiple CPUs, they will receive the average score of the CPUs rounded down (ex. if 2 players disconnect they will both receive +1, if 3 players disconnect they will receive +2 each)
- In the case where a CPU does not appear due to a bug, the player who gets 1st in these races will receive +2 points, with everyone else receiving +1 point.
- If there are multiple missing CPUs, add an additional point to each player for each race in addition to the above.

a. Groups in Round 1 based on RNG.
- In the rare event that there are not enough hosts available, the tournament organizers will disqualify the last x amount of participants.
- For example, if there is one room without a host, the last 12 participants to sign up will be disqualified.

b. After Round 1, players/teams are seeded into groups based on performance in the previous round based on the following criteria (in order):
・Placement compared to other players/teams in their room
・Number of points scored

c. In the event that two teams tie, the following criteria will be used to determine who advances to the next round:
・If one of the tied teams is listed as a host, they will automatically advance.
・(if 2v2-4v4 FFA) The team with the player who scored the most points will advance. For example if two teams are tied with 100 points, but one team has 55 + 45 while the other has 52 + 48, the team with the player who scored 55 points in the room will advance.
・The team which had the highest score in the previous round will advance.
・If the previous three requirements are tied, the team who registered for the tournament first will advance.

d. In the event that a team drops or is disqualified from the tournament after advancing to the next round, the replacement team will be chosen by the following criteria in order:
・Room placement
・Total team score
・Highest score within each team
・Host status
・Registration order

a. Abandonment of Host
Violating any of the following rules may lead to being restricted from hosting for one cycle of tournaments (ex. if you are restricted on FFA #10, you may not host again until FFA #11):

- Not showing up to the tournament while registered as a host
- Starting with less than 12 players, closing a room without reason, or causing unnecessary confusion.
- Failure to submit a table after each round has completed.
- Any other behavior that interferes with the smooth progression of the tournament.

b. For trolling/targeting
Any player found to be lap-trolling, targeting, playing for the other may be banned from registering for SUMMIT Tournaments for one cycle or for 30-60 days. Penalties for each act of sabotage will be based on the following;
※Please be sure to submit any evidence through a support ticket in #support of the SUMMIT Server:

- Any act that interferes with the progression of the tournament may result in a disqualification.
- Players who have been penalized in the past and then interfere with the tournament's progression again may be subject to further punishment or a permanent ban.
