Shoutout to @Nino. for the logo.

What is This?

MKen: Revolution will be a test tournament for a new type of Free-for-All Tournament, focusing on providing more playing time to every person playing in the tournament. One of the biggest problems facing FFAs is how quickly the events can end for players who are eliminated early. The goal of this will be to try to make a tournament that is more accessible to first time FFA players. Placement incentives will still exist for those who do not "advance" (i.e. finish top 6 in a round).

How it Works

Advancements will work as normal: to advance, you need to finish in the top 6 of the room you play in. The main difference is that not advancing no longer will eliminate you, but instead just control what your maximum placement will be. Here's how round progression will look.

Check-ins, Waitlist, and Registration Goals

To make this tournament format work properly without any issues, it is best that each room consists of 12 players. This will keep it so every room has the same amount of players each round, consisting of people who have had a similar tournament experience as you up to this point. In order to ensure this, the following registration guidelines will be taken into account.

- The tournament will run with either 48 or 96 players. The first 48 to signup are the only players with a guaranteed spot in the event, but if 96 players end up checking in, we'll guarantee entry for the first 96.
- Players are still encouraged to sign up even after registration goals are reached. Players will be added to a waitlist.
- Check-ins will be used to ensure that no shows will not affect the tournament. If 3 players of the original 48 don't check-in, the first 3 to register on the waitlist who check-in will take their spot.

It's encouraged that you only register if you're willing to play every round, win or lose. The main goal here is going to be to get people meaningful playing time, and that can't be achieved if any players leave early.

It's also heavily encouraged that you join the Discord link below to make communication easier during the tournament.

Remember to Check-In right after the registration deadline closes.

b. Players banned from Mario Kart Central are prohibited from registering.
c. Players must play with the Switch FC they registered with for the tournament. If a player needs their FC changed, they should notify organizers in advance.

g.i. Players flagged due to lag will not be allowed to participate. To check if you are on the flaglist, please click here.
h. Players may not cooperate with other teams in the tournament in order to gain an advantage.

h.i. Examples of this include voice communication with other teams, teaming in-game, and anything else that could give players an advantage. If it’s questionable, it’s probably not allowed.
h.ii. Players that are found to be teaming with other teams will be immediately disqualified and will receive a punishment to be determined by Mario Kart Central staff.

i. Players must not use any form of hacking or other exploitations.

i.i. Should a player hack, the host is to immediately close the room, remove the offender(s), and re-open the room. The race will not count and the player will be disqualified and banned from mariokartcentral.com.
a. A player's total score will be the total points they scored in 8 races for the preliminary rounds (12 races for the finals)
b. Players who disconnect will receive the score that their CPU received for the races they missed.
a. Groups prior to the finals are selected based on RNG. Players may be moved to separate rooms in order to avoid teaming between multiple participating players.

d. The host must open the room at the time posted by the organizers.
e. Failure to join the room within the allotted time will result in the round starting without you.
f. In the rare event that there are not enough hosts available, the tournament organizers will disqualify the last x amount of participants.
f.i. For example, if there is one room without a host, the last 12 participants to sign up will be disqualified.
g. If a host is found to be breaking hosting rules, they will be banned from hosting future tournaments.
h. If 3 or more players are missing from the results screen after a race, the race will not count and the room must be restarted.
i. If a player not intended to be in a room joins, any races played with that player will not count and the room must be restarted.
a. Hosts are responsible for taking screenshots of the room’s final results and posting them on the tournament thread.
b. Hosts who do not take pictures will not be allowed to host future tournaments.
c. When posting results make sure to clearly mark what room you were in, show who is proceeding to the next round, and post every player’s switch FC next to their name. (Copy and pasting from the rooms post is the easiest way to do this)
d. In the event that two players tie, the following criteria will be used to determine who advances to the next round:
  1. If one of the tied players is listed as a host, they will automatically advance.
  2. If the previous requirement is tied, the player who registered for the tournament first will advance.

Final placements have been added to the registration page. Thanks for coming out everyone.

Additionally: there's a feedback page in the MKen Server. Link in the first post, if you're interested in filling that out or just joining the server in general. Congrats again to Cone on the victory
