These changes will take effect after Week 10 of MKU and will apply to future MKU Seasons / Tournaments

d. Teams who are unable to play a particular match at default time and who are unable to agree on a different match time on the same weekend as suggested in rule b., may request a reschedule to a later date, but before the end of the next week.

i. Teams may only request to reschedule one match per season. The only exception being if rule 3.1.1 c. applies (where the opponent is required to reschedule).

Added ia.

ia. A reschedule is defined as a match that is played outside of the default time. Playing earlier or later on the same day will also count as your reschedule for the season

v. The results thread should be named after one of the following:
[Week](home team tag) (home team score) – (away team score) (away team tag)
[Week] (home team full name) (home team score) – (away team score) (away team full name)

3.3.1. Hosting the room
a.
The host team must provide a host friend code to the opponent at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.

Changed from 30 minutes to 15 minutes

Staff may enforce rules to their discretion based on the situation, and penalties may be subject to change. It is not an excuse to not follow the rules, and discretion will be used as rarely as possible.

Transfers during the season are limited to the transfer window between weeks 5 and 6, and must be requested no later than Friday 11:59 PM UTC / 7:59 PM EDT before week 6.

i. Exceptions to this rule can be made for mixed teams (read section 1.5).

b. Players can transfer to any team, but staff discretion will be used at all times in order to accept/decline transfers.

c. Players from teams which dropped out of the current MKU season will not be allowed to transfer for the remainder of the season.

1.4.4. In MKU Conference
a.
Transfers during a MKU Conference season are prohibited by default.

2.4. MKU Conference

2.4.1. General Information
a.
The total number of teams which declared participation (see 1.3.) will be divided into several divisions of 12 teams each based on skill level. Each of these divisions will be seeded into two conferences of 6. Changes can be made depending on the number of participating teams at staff’s discretion.

b. The season length is 10 weeks by default (8 weeks main season, 2 weeks playoffs). Teams in the same conference will play each other twice, and will play each team in the other conference once by default.

c. Conferences are ranked based on a team's overall Wins-Ties-Losses record throughout the season. Teams' placement in the main season will determine their playoff matches as follows:
1st in a conference: Make playoffs, get a bye in the quarterfinals
2nd in a conference: Make playoffs, host the quarterfinals against the third place in the other conference
3rd in a conference: Make playoffs, do not host the quarterfinals against the second place in the other conference
4th in a Conference: Do not make playoffs and do not have to fight for relegation, your league ends here
5th in a Conference: Fight for relegation week 10 against a semi-finalist loser in the division below
6th in a Conference: You are relegated, your league ends here

d. The results of the playoff matches will affect the next MKU Conference season as follows:
Quarter Finals Loser: Stay in the same division for next season
Semifinals loser: Play a team who finished 5th in a conference in the division above you to fight for promotion (In Division 1, a semifinals loser would stay in the same division for next season)
Finals loser: Automatically promoted to the next division
Finals winner: Automatically promoted to the next division

e. Teams are responsible for being stable and reliable throughout the season and are strongly encouraged to sign up only if they can guarantee that they will be able to play all 10 matches without difficulty.

i. Not playing (aka forfeiting) matches during MKU Conference will have the following consequences:

- 1st forfeit: Warning by the division admin
- 2nd forfeit: Risk not being considered for participation in a future season
- 3rd forfeit: Disqualification and immediate replacement by a substitute team if possible

ii. Teams which drop out of a MKU Conference season of their own volition will be warned and may not be considered for participation in a future season.

iii. Teams which drop out more than once, either due to being disqualified after forfeiting too many matches (see i.) or of their own volition (see ii.), will be permanently banned from participating in any MKU competitions.

iv. If a team drops out, every match played in the current section of the season (1st conference matches, inter-divisional play, or 2nd conference matches) onwards will count as a forfeit.

3.1.4. MKU Conference Matches
a.
MKU Conference matches take place on Sundays at 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM ET by default.

i. Should teams fail to honor the scheduled time of the match, they will automatically forfeit the match.

b. Teams may agree on a different match time which allows them to post the match results before the deadline at 11:59 EST on Sunday.

i. If both teams agree on a new match time, this agreed upon time will officially replace the default time as the officially scheduled time of the match. Should a team then fail to honor this scheduled time, that team will automatically forfeit the match.

c. Should a scheduled match coincide with a country’s national or religious holiday or a large event which will affect a team’s ability to play at default time, the team is to contact their division admin and their opponents at least two weeks ahead of time and then to agree on a different time for the match to be played before the season ends.

i. An event is considered large enough to qualify if a minimum of 4 members from one team or at least 10 members from the community are attending the event.

d. Teams who are unable to play a particular match at default time and who are unable to agree on a different match time on the same weekend as suggested in rule b., may request a reschedule to a later date, but before the end of the next week.

i. Teams may only request to reschedule one match per season. The only exception being if rule 3.1.1 c. applies (where the opponent is required to reschedule).

ia. A reschedule is defined as a match that is played outside of the default time. Playing earlier or later on the same day will also count as your reschedule for the season

ii. Teams willing to request a reschedule must inform their opponents and their division admin by Saturday 3PM ET.

iii. A match for which a reschedule was requested will initially be scored as a forfeit. If the match is played at the rescheduled time, the result will replace this forfeit.

iv. If a team’s opponents do not agree on rescheduling the match, the match will remain scheduled at the default time.

v. Players who have transferred to a different team during the season may not participate in rescheduled matches of their new team that were originally scheduled during a week in which the respective player was still registered for their former team.

Hello everyone, we have some updates to the ruleset to go over before Season 11:

First off, here are a few things that will be added into the ruleset for Season 11:

These rules are just to clarify what should happen in the event a playoff match is tied after race 12:

2.4.2.d. In the event a playoff match is tied after race 12, the two teams will play an additional GP (4 races) to determine the winner of the match.
ii. If the score is still tied after the additional GP, then the teams must play single races until the match is no longer tied.
2.4.2.e. Repicks are not allowed in any overtime races, any track that was played in the first 12 races and is played in overtime will result in a -20 penalty to the team that selected the track.

Additionally: we have a rule regarding room spectating. Since this rule is very punishing, only in cases where there is 100% undeniable proof of someone spectating in game will it be applied. Stream sniping is not applicable to this rule, as it's the players choice whether they want to stream or not, and anyone can go on and watch the match via there. Watching a stream vs. going on the game into a room are two very different things with two very different intents. Streamers can also opt to add a stream delay on their live-streams if they wish to do so.

4.1.b. If a team member is found to be spectating the room to obtain an advantage, the offending team will receive an automatic loss.
i. Substantial and foolproof evidence must be needed for a case to be considered.
ii. Examples of "Substantial and foolproof evidence" include but are not limited to: Multiple instances of the track roulette countdown starting much quicker than usual, more than 6 (or +1 of the number of subs used by a team in a match) players from the same team on the Users You've Played With screen.
--

Rule 3.4.a has been edited, now the winning team will be responsible for posting threads, as we've found that a hosting team that wins is more likely to post the thread faster, meaning the division can be updated quicker. In the event of a tie, the hosting team is responsible for posting the thread. As always, any team can post the thread as long as the other side agrees to it.

Rule 3.4.e has been edited, it is now: If neither team has 6 players going into match time, it will be scored as a 0-0 double forfeit if no reschedule is played.
*The rule was formerly: Should both teams forfeit the same match, it will be scored as a 0-0 tie and no points will be awarded.

We have also removed some significant rules from the ruleset, please read below:

- 1.2.e (New Player Registrations) has been removed. This is due to an influx of players joining teams in lower divisions with no previous transfer history, but having a much higher skill level than the division they play in, meaning that it removes the balance that was originally in the division at the start. As a result, this also means rosters are completely locked at the transfer deadline.

- 1.5.c (Transfers between teams with two rosters) has been removed. This has been removed as it basically circumvents the rule relating to no transfers being allowed in the season, and it also gives an advantage to teams with two rosters. This is because teams with two rosters technically could still make adjustments to their roster once the season starts, while teams with one roster wouldn't have this option.

- 3.2.a.ii (Mutually agreed 5v5s) has been removed. If you only have 5 players going into a match, you will have to play a 5v6 or agree upon a reschedule. All penalties relating to adjustments in 5v5 have been updated accordingly. (These rules are 1.2.i & 3.2.i)

- 3.3.3.a (Point scoring for DCs in 5v5) has been removed since 5v5s are no longer an allowed format.

- 3.4.d (Score Proportionating 5v5 -> 6v6) has been removed. Since 5v5s aren't allowed anymore, this rule is irrelevant.

- The entire section of 6.2 (Appeals) has been removed, since punishments are dealt with via MKCentral staff, not MKU Staff.

If you have any further recommendations, be sure to make a post on this thread. We consider every post on this thread, so if you have a thought on how to improve the league, make sure to post there!
