Introduction

What is 100 Point Cup? The premise is simple: the team that has a player score 100 points first wins the match. To allow such a feat to happen in a reasonable timeframe, some modifications to the MKCentral Universal Ruleset (which can be found here) are in order, which you can see below:
  • Instead of the usual 12 race matches, teams will continue to play until a player has scored 100 points.
  • Hosts must set the room to 16 races and then close the room as soon as a player has scored 100 points.
    • If there's a tie on who scores 100 points first, the player with the greater amount of points wins.
    • If there's an exact tie, another race shall be played to determine the winning team.
  • All players must use their registry name in-game, as opposed to using any name, the same name as other players in the room, or having no name at all (e.g. having only the team tag in your name).
  • In the event of a repick, every player on the team that repicked will receive a -15 point penalty, as opposed to only the player who repicked receiving a -20 point penalty.
  • Matches will be scored as the winning team's highest point value versus the opposing team's highest point value (e.g. 106-97), instead of tallying the total amount of points earned by one team and comparing it to the total amount of points earned by the opposing team.
    • Forfeits will be scored as 0-100 in the winning team's favor, as opposed to a score of 0-150.
  • Laptrolling is permitted.

Tournament Information

100 Point Cup is a two-stage tournament. The tournament will last for two weeks (four days in total). Below is a brief overview of the tournament structure. The tournament will be capped at 64 teams to allow the brackets to run smoothly.

Stage 1 — Group Stage

Stage 1 will feature multiple Round Robin pools with four teams each. Over the course of the first weekend, teams will face off against the three other teams in their group. Compared to other tournaments on MKCentral, teams will play all three matches. The two teams with the higher Group Stage score (W-D-L record) will advance to the Premier Bracket. Likewise, the two teams with the lower Group Stage score (W-D-L record) will be regelated to the Consolation Bracket.

Stage 2 — Single-Elimination Bracket Stage

Stage 2 will be two single-elimination brackets, one for the Premier Bracket and one for the Consolation Bracket. Over the course of the second weekend, teams will face off against other teams based on their seeding. Teams eliminated in this stage are eliminated from the bracket and therefore, are eliminated from the tournament. This stage is winner-takes-all, and the winner of the Premier Bracket will be declared the winner of the tournament. All matches, including the Finals, are Best of 1.
