DISCORD SERVER

Introduction

200L is back with an all new tournament: 200L Blitz! “Blitz” your way to the top in the first of its kind 200L FFA showdown. Compete against 11 other players on January 13th, January 20th, and/or January 27th starting at 19 CET (1 PM EST). Playing any of these matches will put competitors with rivals of similar skill levels held on February 3rd and February 10th at 19 CET (1 PM EST) and 20 CET (2 PM EST)! Designed to attract players who are both new and interested in 200cc and long-time 200cc enjoyers, Blitz provides an amazing opportunity for competitors of all skill levels to try their hand at 200cc. For more information on how this tournament works, please refer to the thread below.

Format and Ruleset

Basic Format

The preliminary weeks of Blitz I will operate in a similar style to FFA Fridays. Players can sign up using the MKCentral Tournaments Bot in the 200L Discord Server. Competitors can compete in any number of the three preliminary weeks to play in a divisional matchup. During each of the weeks, players will accumulate circuit points based on how they placed overall in the tournament. A total of a player’s circuit points will qualify them under a division that matches similarly to other competitor’s circuit points. These divisions will be the Finals for the FFA Tournament. Since there are two weeks of Finals, there can be two unique winners per division. After the tournament has concluded, the player who accumulates the most circuit points will be declared the MVP of the FFA.

Scheduling

The first three weeks of preliminary FFAs will start at 19 CET (1 PM EST) and are estimated to finish by 23 CET (5 PM EST). These FFAs will run on January 13th, January 20th, and January 27th.

The divisional matchup FFAs and Division 1 “Loser’s Round” will run at 19 CET (1 PM EST) with the “Winner’s Round” of Division 1 beginning at 20 CET (2 PM EST). These will be run on February 3rd and February 10th.

For more detailed information on the schedule, view the spoiler below.

Invitational 1 - January 13th
  • 1st Round - 19 CET (1 PM EST)
  • 2nd Round ~ 20 CET (2 PM EST)
  • Semi-Finals ~ 21 CET (3 PM EST)
  • Finals ~ 22 CET (4 PM EST)
Invitational 2 - January 20th
  • Same schedule as Invitational 1
Invitational 3 - January 27th
  • Same schedule as Invitational 1
Divisional Matchups 1 - February 3rd
  • Division 1 Semis/Division 2 and below Finals - 19 CET (1 PM EST)
  • Division 1 Finals - 20 CET (2 PM EST)
Divisional Matchups 2 - February 10th
  • Same schedule as Divisional Matchups 1

NOTE: Invitational match times are based on estimates of the number of players entered. This can be subject to change.

Preliminary Weeks

The first three weeks of Blitz will function exactly like FFA Fridays. Competitors will be placed in randomized rooms for the opening FFA round. Based on how you placed and scored, a select number of competitors will move on. Starting in the second round, competitors will be seeded in rooms, according to the MKCentral Tournaments Bot. This will continue until there are twelve players remaining, which will be the Final Round of the week.

Based on how competitors played in the three weeks of FFAs, they will acquire circuit points. Circuit points are calculated based on where a player finishes overall in the tournament (see the spoiler, “Circuit Points Distribution,” below for more details). The total number of circuit points that are acquired by a player will determine where they will be seeded for their division invitational.

1st - 200 Points
2nd - 170
3rd - 150
4th - 120
5th - 100
6th - 90
7th - 80
8th - 70
9th - 60
10th - 50
11th - 40
12th - 30
Eliminated in Semis - 20
Eliminated in Quarters - 10
Lower Placements will receive 0 points

NOTE: Points are distributed by overall results of the tournament, not by individual FFA rounds.

Competitors can compete in any of the three days (January 13th, January 20th, and/or January 27th) they wish to compete in. Competing in at least one of the three days will qualify the player for the divisional matchups.

For full details on how FFA Fridays work, please visit this previous thread about the FFA Fridays ruleset here. This thread is from a previous FFA Fridays tournament and details how registering, general information, scoring, grouping, room information, and results of these tournaments work.

Divisional Matchups

The last two weeks of the tournament will be divisional play. Players will be seeded based on circuit points they have acquired throughout the preliminary tournament. Divisions are put together for competitors to play others of their similar skill level. This way, new players can get a first taste of what it is like to play 200cc.

A total of 18 players will compete in Division 1, while each division after will consist of 12 players. Each Finals Week, there will be 2 matches of Division 1 Finals (a “Loser’s Round” and a “Winner’s Round”) and 1 match of Divisions 2 and below Finals. In Division 1, the Top 6 seeds in terms of circuit points will receive a BYE and automatically advance into the “Winner’s Round.” Seeds 7-18 will play a “Loser’s Round” FFA Match. The Top 6 players from the 7-18 match will play the Top 6 seeds in the “Winner’s Round” FFA Match. For Divisions 2 and below, all 12 players will play in a singular FFA match. All of these matches will be 12 races.

There will be two final divisional rounds, which will each take place on their own week. Divisional rounds are unique; thus, it is possible that there will be multiple division winners. The player that wins on Week 4 and the player that wins on Week 5 will be crowned as the winners in their division.

Once the tournament is complete, a MVP will be named. This player will be the one that accumulates the most circuit points across the tournament, both prelims and finals. In divisional matchups, circuit points will have a multiplier added (see spoiler, “Divisional Circuit Points Multiplier,” for more information).

Division 1: Circuit Points 2x (Loser’s Round acts as Semis)
Division 2: 1x
Division 3: .75x
Division 4: .50x
Division 5: .25x

Additional Information

Tournament Conflicts

200L Blitz I will be running in tandem with Low Div Cup (LDC) Season 12 and Mid Div Cup (MDC) Season 4. In the past, LDC and MDC ran at 21 CET (3 PM EST) and 22 CET (4 PM EST) on Saturdays. 200L Staff asks competitors to be aware of this timeframe when registering for Blitz I FFAs.

Bring Back the Old, Welcome in the New

This tournament is here for the players who have always wanted to try 200cc, but have never gotten the opportunity to stick their feet in the water. 200L Staff would like to welcome you to this new opportunity! With this tournament, new to 200cc players will have an opportunity to play 200cc in the original gameplay style of Mario Kart: yourself versus everyone. Once the three weeks are over, 200L staff will have new players seeded with players of their skill level for divisional matchups based on circuit points. Therefore, there is no need to be intimidated by 200cc; staff would like to welcome new players to try this tournament for themselves and see what they think!

As for experienced players, the same rules apply. Highly experienced 200cc players will be matched up with other players of their skill level during the divisional matchup. Therefore, the skill level will be even across all kinds of experiences for 200L Blitz I.

Conclusion

We hope you all are as excited as we are for a new 200cc FFA Tournament! As we “blitz” our way to victory, we also welcome and encourage any feedback competitors may have about Blitz throughout the tournament.

Welcome to 200L Blitz!
