Introduction

Hi, everyone! We are happy to announce that 200 League is back for Season 9! We were very happy with another successful event and especially a very successful Division 3 during Season 8. Season 9 of 200 League starts August 12th and will be held for 7 weeks. Please note there is a bye week on August 26th. You can find more details are in the Additional Information section of this thread.

Format and Ruleset

This season we will be running the 8-team conference format that MKU runs. Please refer to the spoiler below for a brief summary. You can also refer to this thread if you are interested in more details. Please ask the 200L staff if you have any questions about the special format this season. This may be subject to change based on the number of signups, so some divisions may use conference format and others may use 6 team WCL format.

In Conference format, eight teams comprise each division, separated into two conferences of 4 teams each. The first five weeks of the season will be designated for round-robin play, where teams will play each opponent in their conference twice, and the out-of-conference opponents once. After week five, the teams who place first in their conferences will play in the playoffs. Similarly, the best-placing teams of the other six teams will be awarded a spot in the playoffs as well. The four teams will play in Best-of-3 semifinals and the winners will play in the Best-of-3 finals.

In WCL format, six teams comprise each division. The first five weeks of the season will be designated for round-robin play, where teams will play each opponent in the division twice. After week five, the team who places first in the regular season will have a bye week into finals. The teams which placed second and third in regular season play will face off in a Best-of-3 semifinal in week six. The winner plays the regular season winner in the best-of-3 finals to determine the division winner.

Similar to all other tournaments hosted on MKCentral, 200L Season 9 will utilize the MKCentral Universal Ruleset, which can be found here.

Player & Team Registration

Team registrations, as well as the player registration/transfer deadline
, will be open from now until August 5th @ 23:59:59 PM UTC. You can register your team on the 200L tournament page, listed on the MKC Tournament Listing, and also linked above and below. As always, only team leaders or managers can sign their team up for the season, and they will also be the ones to receive the Team Representative role in the 200L Discord server, so make sure that everyone is accounted for.

If you are a team leader and you are unable to make a transfer to your team due to a site bug, please make a ticket in the MKCentral-MK8DX server found here.

Additional Information — Reliability, War Results, Opt-Outs

Teams are expected to be reliable. Given that 200L falls on Saturdays, it is very likely that 200L may overlap with other events hosted on MKCentral (for anything that runs at 3:00 and 4:00 PM ET/21:00 and 22:00 CEST). We encourage anyone who is interested to register, but obviously, we would like to ask that anyone doing so is certain they will be able to play out the season. Reschedules will be permitted at staff discretion for those who need them, but do not expect to have the opportunity each and every week. It also depends on the availability/willingness of the opposing team.

Due to MKCentral hosting Ragnarok in partnership with JPGiviner, we will have a bye week to allow all players to participate in their tournament. This means Week 3 of 200L will take place on September 2nd.

200L Season 9 playoffs will conflict with the first two weeks of an upcoming tournament, so please keep this in mind as well before finalizing your rosters and signing up.

In further regards to reliability, it would be helpful if we had access to each team's war results. This is because it allows us to better understand where teams stand in contrast to other teams to create the most balanced divisions possible. It is not necessary to have a staff member in your server (unless you are willing to, which is totally appreciated), but just sending tables to staff members is fine as well, if you choose to share any. Even if you do not do this, we may still have someone reach out, so we would appreciate cooperation if we request tables.

Results of the tournament matches will most likely be posted in a chat on the 200 League Discord Server this time because of the site's recent hiccups. Please provide all the required info in the result chat (last race score screenshot, disconnects, player swaps, room crashes, etc...). Also, it would be preferred that you give the table a 200L style to differentiate the tables from scrimmage ones. Do that either with the standard 200L table or a self-made one.

Also, just as a reminder, any players who are registered for a team but do not plan to play in any matches (or do not want to be considered during the seeding process) are encouraged to opt-out. To opt-out, simply go to the tournament page, and from there if your team has already signed up, you should see an option to opt-out. If you opt-out and want to opt back in you just repeat the process.

200L Season 9 will begin on August 12, 2023. There will be a week break on August 26. The season will end on September 30, 2023.
