What is This?
MKen: Revolution will be a test tournament for a new type of Free-for-All Tournament, focusing on providing more playing time to every person playing in the tournament. One of the biggest problems facing FFAs is how quickly the events can end for players who are eliminated early. The goal of this will be to try to make a tournament that is more accessible to first time FFA players. Placement incentives will still exist for those who do not "advance" (i.e. finish top 6 in a round).
How it Works
Advancements will work as normal: to advance, you need to finish in the top 6 of the room you play in. The main difference is that not advancing no longer will eliminate you, but instead just control what your maximum placement will be. Here's how round progression will look.
Check-ins, Waitlist, and Registration Goals
To make this tournament format work properly without any issues, it is best that each room consists of 12 players. This will keep it so every room has the same amount of players each round, consisting of people who have had a similar tournament experience as you up to this point. In order to ensure this, the following registration guidelines will be taken into account.
- The tournament will run with either 48 or 96 players. The first 48 to signup are the only players with a guaranteed spot in the event, but if 96 players end up checking in, we'll guarantee entry for the first 96.
- Players are still encouraged to sign up even after registration goals are reached. Players will be added to a waitlist.
- Check-ins will be used to ensure that no shows will not affect the tournament. If 3 players of the original 48 don't check-in, the first 3 to register on the waitlist who check-in will take their spot.
It's encouraged that you only register if you're willing to play every round, win or lose. The main goal here is going to be to get people meaningful playing time, and that can't be achieved if any players leave early.
It's also heavily encouraged that you join the Discord link below to make communication easier during the tournament.
